BYL Architecture

About Me

Welcome to BYL Architecture! Founded by Bryan Youn in 2021, BYL Architecture serves as a platform to share his passion for architecture with a global audience.

Bryan, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Biochemistry and Architecture, originally from Seoul, South Korea. His interest in architecture began with sketching designs and building LEGO models, eventually evolving into a deep passion for 3D modeling. Through BYL Architecture, he combines his skills and enthusiasm to explore and showcase architectural design.

In addition to his formal studies, Bryan independently explores fashion and video game development and design, constantly integrating ideas from his diverse interests—including biology, chemistry, fashion, and game design—into his architectural work. This interdisciplinary approach allows him to create innovative and dynamic designs that bridge multiple fields of creativity.

On his Instagram, Bryan shares a variety of architecture-related content, including highlights of renowned architectural works, introductions to influential architects and their ideas, and insights into his own projects. BYL Architecture also features his work spanning from high school projects in 2019 to his latest college designs, reflecting his growth and commitment to the field. Specializing in 3D modeling with SketchUp and rendering with Twinmotion and Enscape, Bryan continuously refines his craft.

Visitors are encouraged to explore BYL Architecture’s Instagram and website. For any inquiries, Bryan can be contacted through the designated contact section.

Design Process

  • My modeling process starts with a conceptualization

My modeling process unfolds from initial sketches to tangible 3D models. It begins with drafting a concept of the building, followed by constructing a LEGO model to grasp its three-dimensional structure. Subsequently, I use LayOut for SketchUp to arrange the interior space, which is then imported into SketchUp 3D for detailed development. This methodical approach allows for a comprehensive exploration of architectural form and function, from concept to digital realization.

  • In the production phase, I focus on modeling the architecture, designing the interior, and applying textures. Starting with the basic 3D structure of the building inspired by my LEGO model, I use SketchUp 3D to refine the design. I then incorporate the interior details and apply various textures to distinguish materials within the building. This stage is crucial for the rendering process, as it adds realism and depth to the visual representation.

  • Once the 3D model is complete, I import it into Twinmotion, where I enhance it by adding terrain, vegetation, and further details such as texture and lighting. Fine-tuning the lighting settings allows me to achieve a realistic ambiance. The final step involves rendering the images, resulting in visually stunning representations of the buildings as they would appear in real life.
